Another??

So, I was chatting with a friend the other day when she said to me, "...have you noticed that it seems like A LOT of drinking goes on with cruisers??"... Just because you live on a boat and are retired, please don't forget about your responsibilities.  Operating a vessel under the influence is just as, if not more, dangerous than driving your car after having 'one too many'.  Remember you NEED your liver, so be kind to it... don't let it pack up and go without you!  It's okay to have ice water instead of beer or rum!!

We LOVE dogs...

Marrs & Squirrel helping to set the anchor
Almost everyone we've met along the way will ask us what it's like living on a 44 foot sailboat with 2 BIG dogs... Well, to be frank, at times it's been less than convenient, but we are 'dog people'!  You either have it our you don't!  Marrs, our black lab is still very sad after losing his brother in November.  We all are.  Dogs are special creatures, or maybe Pete & I are the creatures!!  Here's a tribute to my special boys... I love you with all my heart and even though I always ask people if they want a dog, I wouldn't trade you for ANYTHING!!

RIP my precious Squirrel

The Three Promises...

So, before we started out on this adventure, Pete made me three promises...

Quality Water Works Inc.

1.  Watermaker.  No goofing around with this business!  I am a water drinker, I shower every single day, and we had two large breed dogs... All of us need water, and lots of  it!!

2.  Fancy lifejacket.  I love my life jacket, it's light weight, comfy, and my favorite color, RED!!

3.  One-pull start outboard.  Now for all of you who have been sweating like FAT ELVIS trying to start your dinghy motor in the sweltering heat, all know where I'm coming from...

Just remember to all of you guys out there reading this...

                                                                                      Happy wife, happy life.......

Healthy Tips...

I do miss having a REAL bathroom...

Origins face wash

Don't forget your hat!!
Best face products, hands down!!

Okay, most of the stuff your mother told you applies while living on a sailboat... Wash your face, brush your teeth, wash your hair, scrub behind your ears, wash your hands... you all get the idea!  So, here's a few things that might make your life easier while sailing the seas!  Most of these products you won't find on a small island in the Bahamas, so stock up before you go...  Or after that trip home!!  Just because you live on a boat, doesn't mean that you have to 'go camping'.  Take care of yourself and your crew!!  Healthy is happy...

Miss these sometimes too...

How many years???

Today marks the day that Pete and I have been married for 13 years!  Some days it seems like 30, but I'm sure it's like that for everyone.  If
someone would have told me 5 years ago that I'd be living on a sailboat in the Dominican Republic, I would have accused them of being intoxicated!  But here we are, with a few stories, a couple of extra pounds, and still just as much love...

Pete did use to have hair!

Cleaning...

My mom has been using this stuff for YEARS!!!

Well, it's like the laundry, no one really WANTS to do it, but someone has to!!  I posted earlier that I use vinegar for tons of different ways to clean, but sometimes living on a boat, you need just a bit more muscle... So, I have a few pictures of some other products that I wouldn't leave behind when sailing off into the sunset!!

Rubbing alcohol works well for cleaning out stainless steel sinks!

Chicken!!!

Okay, so a friend of mine made the comment that not all of us eat brown rice and beans!  So, here's a quick and easy recipe for all you meat-eaters!!  Enjoy...

Citrus & Garlic Chicken

4  chicken breast or what ever you have in the freezer
1  cup of wine wine- you can have one glass while making the dish and 1 with dinner...
1/3 cup of juice- lemon, lime, orange, or a mix
10 garlic cloves UNPEELED  ( no chopping YEAH!! )
3 Tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 Tablespoon of whole pepper corns
Fresh or dried basil- to taste  ( fresh is easy to come by in the DR so I use A LOT )
Salt & pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a large pot
Cook ( or simmer ) covered for 45 minutes
Remove lid
Turn to high temp for about 10 minutes to reduce liquid by half

Serve with BROWN RICE, white rice, potatoes, and or a green salad!

Quick, easy, healthy, and only uses ONE pot!!  Gotta love that!!

People always ask...

"So, what do you do all day??"  Well, in quotes of a dear friend, as little as possible!  I usually start my day off with a routine of dog hair removal, putting away of dishes, sweeping, vacuuming and making the bed.  I'm somewhat OCD when it comes to cleaning, thanks mom AND dad...  After chores are done, we try and do something fun!  My hubby 'Pete' is still working, so he doesn't get to have as much fun as me, but we always have the weekends for a motorcycle ride and a date night!  We've found some wonderful places here to eat in the Dominican Republic!  And I do so LOVE to eat... Eating is a hobby, right??

My daughter...

I know, no one cares about your kids but you... I just want to take a minute to count my blessings that I have such a wonderful woman I'm proud to call "my daughter".  She's 25, recently married to a kind and VERY patient man... Blair works at Macy's and LOVES life... Anyone who has ever met her, never forgets her!  She is my baby and always will be...
Those wonderful teenage years...

"Do you know where my hat is??"

AHHH!!  The lost accessory of HATS!!!!!!!!

On the beach in Bimini Bahamas

Pete hiking in Moab, UT

When living in the tropics, hats are a must!  They keep your hair color longer, the sun off your face, and look good with large black sunglasses!!  Now, if you're still living in the cold, wet weather, that fabulous hat will keep you warm and dry.  Keep your face wrinkle free, and grab that hat!!
